Deluxe Bearing Fence

The deluxe bearing fence enables you to mark a line parallel to a curved edge with more control than the bearing fence.

There are 3 positions for the bearings depending on the tightness of the curve.

The deluxe bearing fence plate is 8mm delrin, 66mm x 50mm at the wider end and fits all the scribers apart from the 2 in 1 FB Scriber.

You can set the fence up with a bearing one end and 2 at the other end and use the fence plate for scribing furniture (see video on bearing fence page).

Different width nylon spacers are provided which fit between the bearings. This allows you to change the spacing according to the thickness of the work peice.

Countersink m4 bolts are used to fit the bearing fence and deluxe bearing fence on the scribers.

The counterbored hole in the plate is big enough to use a socket from a 1/4″ socket set to tighten the bolts.

If you are marking out for a chamfer on a curved component rather than swapping over to a standard marking gauge you can mark the edge of the workpeice by running the bearings on the face.

The bearings and spacers fit on an m4 button head bolt which threads into a barrel nut located on the plate.

The m4 bolt should be tightened just enough to take up any slack between the bearings and spacers.

The nylon spacers can easily cope with a moderate amount of compression but really cranking down on the m4 bolts could crack them.

There are 2 m4 washers in the kit for placing between the plate and first spacer.

The 2mm spacer at the start of the stack gives a bit of room between the aluminiuim cradle on the scriber and the workpiece.

Please note the clearance holes for the m4 bolts in the plate are over length.

This gives you more flexibility with the length of bolt you can use for holding the bearings and spacers.
