Overview of the Marking Gauge Block in marking gauge mode with a metal beam
There are 2 metal beams available to use with the marking gauge block in marking gauge mode.
The metal beam has a threaded hole either end to hold a marking wheel.
The depth gauge beam has a threaded hole one end and hold the hardened 2mm pin. It also has half round grooves machined in the end to locate a pencil for quick transfer work.
Both beams are 140mm long and 8mm in diameter.
Using the metal beam with a Veritas marking wheel and a tite mark marking wheel.
Both the Veritas and tite mark marking gauges use 5/16″ beams which is almost the same size as 8mm.
If you own either of these gauges they will work perfectly well in the marking gauge block.

There are 2 x 8mm holes in the block where the depth gauge beam can locate.
There is also a 4mm beam for smaller holes.
The depth gauge beam has half round grooves 0.5mm deep machined on one end to seat a pencil.
The end is hardened to protect the grooves and the m3 thread.
